Lord muruga has six main temples called arubadai veedu. One of the six temples situated in madurai is palamuthircholai.

Lord muruga can be seen with sri valli and deivanai in main temple here only. Jambul fruit which is called naval palam in tamil can be seen here in friut form in tamil month of aipassi.This is also a speciality here.People who have problems in marriage and getting a child pray to lord muruga and offer milk abhisegam and new clothes after fulfillment of wishes.

This temple is situated at a distance of 3 kms from alagar kovil. Alagarkovil is situated at a distance of 21 kms from madurai.
