Bhakthavatsala Perumal - Saptha Punya Chetram

According to shastras a place in which a temple is situated should have Vimanam, Aranyam, Mandapam,Theertham, Shetram, River and City and it is named as "Saptha Punya Shetram".A temple which has all these lakshanas is in Thirukkannamangai in Tiruvarur district.It is called as Bhakthavatsala Perumal Temple.

Bee hive can be found in this temple as which is considered  to be a special here as it is told such that devas in form of bees worship lord perumal and kannamangai nayagi who are in married form according to sthalapuranam.This is a very old temple as devotees worship for Marriage related problems.Thirumanjanam is offered for Lord Perumal and Amman after fulfillment of wishes.In ancient times it is called "Lakshmi vanam".

This temple is situated ata distance of 5 kms from thiruvarur on the way to kumbakonam.
