Koluntheeswar Temple - Arthanareeswarar in a lingam
Usually lord siva is represented in the form of lingam in all temples.People who want to meditate assume lingam form in their mind as it is the easy representation of everything in one concept.
A lingam is so special such that arthanareeswarar form is visible during maasi magam festival when milk is poured for abhisegam on it.It is also said to be curing brammahathi dosha . The lingam is in a temple called koluntheeswarar temple which is sitauted in a place called kottur in thiruvarur district.This temple is said to be more than 1000 years old.
Amman is called thenarmoliyammai.Her other name is madurabashini. People after taking bath in this temple pond worship lord siva and amman to get cured from brammahathi dosha.
This temple is situated at a distance of 15 kms from mannarkudi on the way to thiruthuraipoondi via kottur.
