Dayanitheeswarar Temple - Special for pregnant women

Usually women who are waiting for child birth are advised to take more rest in house itself.Temple visits are avoided by some of them.A special temple called dayanitheeswarar temple is there especially built for pregnant women.This temple is situated in a place called vadakurangaduthurai in thanjavur district.This temple is said to be more than 2000 years old.

Lord siva in this temple is worshipped by vaali, a monkey king.Special prayers are offered to the lord by pregnant women for safe and normal delivery.During tamil moth of karthigai women come round ambigai 1008 times as special worship.

This temple is situated at a distance of 20 kms from kumbakonam on the way to thiruvayaru.Goddess durga here is also special and milk is offered for special pooja to get courage.
