The temple is called as pallavaneswarar temple.It is situated in poompugar in nagapattinam district.The temple is said to be more than 1000 years old.One has to travel 24 kms from mayiladuthurai and 19 kms from seergali to reach the temple.The temple is located near bay of bengal and river kaviri joins bay of bengal here and it is called as kaviripoompattinam in ancient times.
