The temple is situated in mayiladuthurai in nagapattinam district.Lord siva is called as aathi mayuranathar and his in the form of lingam and amman in the form of peacock.The temple is said to be more than 1000 years old.

In a separate temple, lord siva is in the form of natarajar, god of dance in kaurydhandavam and called as maayuranathar.People who want to excel in dance should pray to this lord.The temple is situated at a distance of 2 kms from mayiladuthurai bus stand.
